Is Digital Marketing Important For Your Business?

Imagine this, you’re driving home from work and you get stuck in traffic. Almost naturally, you go for your phone and scroll around on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter.

What do you see?

Posts, videos, text, ads, etc. right? Everyone sees ”sponsored” posts every now and then.

What don’t you notice while you’re sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic?

How about the van next to you advertising their cleaning service? Or the billboard advertising a lawyer and the radio advertising buying a new car at a crazy good discount? Typical vinyl wrapping can cost a business anywhere from $1,500–3000, and on average, billboard advertisements cost anywhere from $4000 all the way up to $15,000 in mid-large cities. Did you pay any mind to either of them? I’m pretty confident you didn’t.

Before I answer this looming question, I highly recommend you all to go ahead and follow us on social media and ‘ Like’ our Facebook page. We’re committed to consistently release informative content help to guide you through your journey of entrepreneurship!

So, why is it important to have a proper marketing strategy?

Simply put, a proper marketing strategy can level the playing field for start-up and small businesses versus large corporations such as Amazon and Apple. You can get in front of the eyes that matter most for your business for a lot less compared to older marketing strategies.

No, you will not be able to beat big businesses out the gate — and I would be a fool to mislead anybody to think that — but what most small businesses can capitalize on is their local and outlying area. For example, VMG began our marketing campaigns all over the region where we’re based, The DMV.

To expound on this, first, I think I should be more specific with my words. There are so many forms of “marketing”, and the one that I’m referring to in this question is digital marketing.

Digital Marketing can be simply described as advertising through digital platforms.

You have popular types of digital marketing through your everyday social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, and you have other forms of digital marketing through email and mobile apps and more. All digital platforms can be utilized as digital marketing if you are advertising your business.

But what do these “digital platforms” mean to you and your business?

Well, this is a clear indication that traditional forms of marketing are dying or dead. I can’t name all forms of traditional marketing but some major ones include newspaper ads, door to door, cold calling, tv commercials, and — the absolute worst one — billboards are multiple channels of marketing losing popularity now. Don’t get me wrong though, some are still relevant these days. Also, they will stay relevant as long as they are implemented at the right time or for the right reason but pretty much all businesses have acknowledged how much money is being wasted on traditional marketing channels, like the few I just mentioned.

Growing a business now in the digital era can become overwhelming if you do it all alone.

The term “digital marketing” has doubled in Google search volume in the past 5 years, and seven-fold in the last decade. On the other side of the marketing spectrum, searches on Google keywords for “billboard ads” and “newspaper ads” have decreased exponentially in the same timeframe.

So what does that mean?

It means don’t waste your money on the wrong advertising platform. More explicitly, digital marketing is growing in popularity meanwhile traditional marketing is not. Data and technology are only moving onward and upward, so just imagine not leveraging the most vital resource available to you if you have the ability to use it? Establishing your business online is paramount to its success in the future.

Don’t get left behind.

There are so many useful tools and resources out there that you would have to learn how to implement properly in order for some type of return on your investment. But thankfully, VMG is here to provide proper solutions for your business which include a free marketing strategy and a 14-day trial to build a beautiful, fast, and functional digital asset for you and your business.
